Falls and Elopement Committee

We do everything possible to prevent the incidence of falls however the elderly are at high risk for falling. We utilize a non-restraint policy meaning we do not use seat belts or side rails unless it is to provide treatment for a medical condition. Our building is secure for those residents that may be at risk for leaving the building unsupervised through an audible monitoring system. Our Fall and Elopement committee meet daily to review the best interventions to reduce the risk of falls, injury and elopement.

Nutrition Committee
Weight loss is important. A Registered Dietician assesses all residents for their dietary needs and preferences. A committee meets weekly to review residents weights and appropriate nutrition.

Pain Management Committee

Froh Community Home - Therapy

The Rehabilitation Department strives to assure each resident is afforded therapeutic activities and interventions to achieve there maximum level of independence to return home in the quickest means possible. Staffed by Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapists each resident is provided with activities to maximize their functional skills.

Frequently it is asked, "How much therapy does my mom / dad get at your facility?" The answer is simply as much as it takes to provide every possible means to ensure the resident returns to their prior level of function. If it means more than three hours a day then that is what is provided for goal achievement.

Over 75% of new admissions are discharged back to their homes or to facilities that require less care such as assisted living centers. Currently the averaged length of stay for those residents is 4 to 6 weeks depending on their admitting diagnosis.

Utilizing various state of the art modalities such as ultra-sound, e-stim, and Magnatherm in conjunction with progressive strengthening routines the resident shortly develops strength and endurance to be guided to independent activities of daily living.

Through home evaluations, family meetings and the open door policy no one is discharged without performing at optimum safety and independence. To maximize the resident's success for those residents that are returning home we utilize outside resources to provide them with the training in the home to assure the first few weeks returning home are very successful.

"Our surveys of families and residents seldom show less than excellent satisfaction," stated Wally Martin, Director of Rehabilitation. "It certainly reflects our commitment to our residents, our excellent therapists, and our great nursing care."

For those residents that have not gained enough skills to return home the Restorative Program intervenes to assure each resident does not lose the function they have gained through providing daily ambulation programs, exercise programs, ADL training and frequently continue with pain management interventions such as moist hot packs and icing.
