About the event
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. There’s no substitute for blood. When a patient receives blood, it is given in advance by a generous donor. The Red Cross provides about 40% of our nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors. Make your donation at one of three upcoming Blood Drives hosted by Thurston Woods.

Donation Types:
- Power Red: A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.
- Blood: The most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of 'whole blood' is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.
